"Remember the good, remember the bad,
learn from both, eternally glad"

Daniel Holmes

My Story

I was born in Canterbury, England, in 1978 to an English father and a Welsh mother, but I was brought up and educated in South Wales, along with my two sisters, and therefore I am proud to call myself Welsh.

I enjoy sports especially scuba diving, love nature and respect all forms of life. I have developed a great interest in Welsh history and avidly follow the 6 Nations and World Cup Rugby on TV. I studied a little of the Welsh language in school but sadly am no Welsh speaker.

After leaving school I trained as a chef. I really enjoyed this work and it was my career for many years. After working in a number of restaurants in Britain, I decided to move to the beautiful Maltese Islands with the hope of combining my love of cooking and diving. For a few years, I lived and worked first on Malta and then on Gozo.

I am currently in prison in Malta, having been sentenced to over 10 years for growing cannabis for my own use. I have always preferred smoking cannabis to help me relax rather than drinking alcohol. I think alcohol is a far more dangerous substance and whereas smoking weed creates calm introspection, alcohol often causes aggression. But this is just my opinion.

When liberty, justice and freewill have been taken away from you, it becomes an obligation to carry that story to others in the hope that they will learn from it, and not fall into a similar situation. As mine has eroded my life.
